Reducing energy consumption in recycling is a huge environmental challenge. Impact solutions is taking early ideas and developing them into working solutions that tackle these challenges head on.
Recycling is playing a critical role in supporting and protecting the environment, often requiring much less energy to turn old materials into new ones than it does to extract and process raw resources. However, the recycling process for some materials – such as the metals found in lithium-ion batteries – can be very energy intensive and costly.
This is just one of the environmental problems that Impact Solutions is tackling by taking promising and emerging concepts and turning them into commercially viable solutions to some of the biggest eco challenges that exist today. Recently, Impact Solutions used the Sustainable Innovation Fund to develop a technology that reduces the temperature, energy consumption, and cost required for the recycling process of lithium batteries.
